Overview

The first session (in Korean) will highlight the enhanced efficiency and effectiveness of the new Rules, and how strategic use of the Rules can influence outcomes in practice. The second part (in English) will bring these principles to life through a mock hearing of an Emergency Arbitration with an application for a Protective Preliminary Order, demonstrating how emergency relief can be sought and decided in urgent situations. It will be followed by a panel discussion joined by all speakers of the second panel.

Mock EA with a PPO Application: Emergency Relief in Practice (in English)

The SIAC Rules 2025 allow parties applying for Emergency Arbitration (EA) to also seek a Protective Preliminary Order (PPO) without prior notice to the other party. This mock session will demonstrate how EA and PPO applications are prepared, argued, and decided in practice, giving participants insight into the dynamics, challenges, and strategies involved in urgent proceedings. The session will conclude with reflections from experienced arbitrators on the mock exercise and on how EA and PPO can be effectively utilized by Korean companies.
