YSIAC Seoul Virtual Debate
This House Believes That Artificial Intelligence Will Eventually
Replace Arbitral Tribunals
The technology revolution is transforming the traditional arbitration process. New smart technologies are
increasing the efficiency and quality of arbitrations, and virtual arbitrations are now the norm. As the use of AI
becomes more prevalent in arbitral proceedings, some predict that AI will provide parties with a cost-efficient
alternative to the human arbitrator, advocating that decision-making AI can provide more rational and
consistent decisions in international arbitration.
The YSIAC Seoul Virtual Debate will highlight evolving AI technologies as practitioners match up to consider the
impact of artificial intelligence on international arbitration and the provocative question of whether an
AI-arbitrator could help manage an arbitration or even replace an arbitral tribunal.
